Monthly Bookkeeping

Clean books every month, timely monthly reporting.

This is the core of what I do. Every month your transactions get categorized, every account gets reconciled to the penny, and every month you get a plain-English summary of what came in, what went out, and what it means. No hourly meter, no surprises on the invoice — one flat rate agreed upon before the month starts.

Weekly categorization passes, monthly reconciliation of every account, and a tidy close.

Every month: your reports and a short summary in plain English. Questions? Plans include a monthly review call.

Monthly Bookkeeping questions

What software do you use? +

QuickBooks Online, as an Intuit-certified ProAdvisor. If you're not on it yet, I'll set it up as part of onboarding.

Do you need my bank login? +

Never. You invite me into QuickBooks as your accountant and connect your bank feed — I work from read-only data.

What if my books aren't current? +

Most new clients start behind. We do a flat-quoted catch-up project first, then roll into monthly service with a clean slate.

Is there a contract? +

Month to month with 30 days' notice. The engagement letter spells out exactly what's included so there's never scope confusion.

Do you handle restaurant bookkeeping? +

Yes — food cost, tip reporting, and daily sales that don't wait for month-end. If you're only checking your numbers at tax time, you're flying blind on food cost the other eleven months. I reconcile POS deposits against what actually hit the bank, track vendor invoices separately from overhead, and get you a monthly P&L that shows food cost as a percentage — not just a total — so you know if it's drifting before it eats the margin.

Do you handle farm bookkeeping? +

Yes — and farm books track things town books don't. Commodity sales timing, program payments, equipment depreciation detail for your tax preparer, landlord shares if you're renting ground. Mixing the feed-store account with the family account is the single most expensive habit I see on farm books; I split it clean every month so your co-op statement and your bank statement always agree, and the numbers survive tax season instead of getting reconstructed from memory in March.
